7 Important Tips For Soloing Dungeo...

Is Sorcerer A Good Class In ESO?

Sorcerers are a fantastic class to choose in The Elder Scrolls Online! Sorcerers represent the classic caster or mage type but with a unique Elder Scrolls twist. Sorcerers in ESO are connected with Elemental Damage, specifically Lightning Damage skills but also have access to some darker magic types as well including Deadric Summoning. Sorcerers are known for their speed on the battlefield, multiple damage sources and easy self-healing. And just like any Class in ESO, there are even some stamina based variants of these skills meaning if you want to be a Sorcerer Tank using a sword and shield or a Sorcerer Damage Dealer that uses a big two-handed sword you can do that too!

What Skills Are Best For The Sorcerer?

The best skill for the Sorcerer is Critical Surge which consistently heals the player back whenever they do Critical Damage.

Sorcerers in The Elder Scrolls Online can deal massive damage with powerful skills like Crystal Fragments or Crystal Weapon which allow you to summon deadly crystals to hurl at your enemies. Summon Volatile Familiar from the Daedric Summoning skill line is also very popular as this summons a Daedric Scamp pet that damages all surrounding enemies and stuns.

Sorcerer Tanks will want to increase their survivability with skills like Hurricane or Boundless Storm which increase player armor and mobility.

Sorcerer Healers also have one of the strongest heals in the game with the Summon Twilight Matriarch skill which can heal themselves and one other player.

PVP-focused Sorcerers should also take advantage of one of the best Burst Damage combinations of any class which is using the time delayed damage of Haunting Curse together with the execute finisher skill called Endless Fury.

The best Sorcerer Ultimate is Summon Greater Storm Atronach which summons a massive Storm Atronach pet to the battlefield for several seconds doing great single target damage and an AOE stun.

What Weapons Are Best For The Sorcerer?

Players who want to experience the classic Mage playstyle on a Sorcerer in The Elder Scrolls Online will want to pick up a Destruction Staff as soon as possible. Often this weapon is used both as a Primary Weapon and a Backup Weapon for the Sorcerer.

For a melee or Stamina focused Sorcerer a great option for your Primary Weapon will be either Dual Wield or Two-Handed. Both weapons do great damage while also offering powerful Damage Over Time (DOT) effects and some utility.

If you prefer to play at range without a Staff then the Bow is a great option for the Sorcerer class as well, as this will do a great job pairing with the Sorcerer’s powerful ranged skills like Crystal Weapon.

What Armor Should a Sorcerer Wear?

The best armor for the Sorcerer class in The Elder Scrolls Online is light armor, which provides bonuses to Critical Chance, Offensive Penetration, Magicka Recovery and Magicka Cost Reduction.

There are some exceptions to this rule, particularly if you prefer melee weapons and stamina-based skills. In this case you will want to prioritize medium armor instead which boosts your Critical Damage, Stamina Recovery and Stamina Cost Reduction.

Tanks as well as players interested in PVP will also want to invest in some solid Heavy Armor sets for the extra protection.

What Is The Best Race For Sorcerer?

The best race for a Sorcerer in The Elder Scrolls Online is High Elf due to their bonus Max Magicka, increased Weapon and Spell Damage and resource sustain.

It is important to note that sometimes other races can be preferred depending on what particular build you are trying to optimize for. For more details be sure to review our ESO Race Guides for each role.
